Planting Summer Food Plots - Contrasts - The Mangement Advantage #37
All the hard work of planting a food plot can quickly be lost if deer get to the forage too quickly. This is especially true in summer plantings of forage soybeans. In order to prevent this from happening, we like to use a product called Milorganite which is available at virtually any home improvement store. Simply spread a heavy covering across your food plots right after planting. The offensive odor and any fencing barrier you use should keep deer away for a few weeks to allow germination and the food plot to begin growing before receiving grazing pressure from whitetails.
