Turkey Hunting
Many hunters have that special spot on their farm where magic just seems to happen. For Casey, this spot is “The Gap”. It just a simple opening in a fence row that a pile of turkeys have been harvested at. Through the use of trail cameras and a some long range scouting, he was able to identify the number of longbeards on his farm and know what they’re doing. On the day of the hunt, they tried to throw a curve ball by being worried about each other more than impressing a hen or responding to calling. After calling at them them for awhile, one finally broke to the decoys and met his demise while standing on top of the jake decoy.
The weather has finally turned a little drier and Casey was able to help good friend, Jeff Butler of Full Draw Hunts, spray a new plot in preparation for some Eagle Forage Soybeans and Pennington seed.
