In this episode, we return to Tom’s pollinator field planted last year using the Pheasants Forever Dry Monarch Mix. Now in its second year, the field is thriving with chest-high flowers and forbs, providing valuable food and cover for wildlife while buzzing with honey bees, bumblebees, and other pollinators.
We also check on the wildlife orchard planted within the field several months ago. With consistent rain and a strong growing season, the trees have taken off—many growing well beyond the tops of their protective tubes. We take a closer look at the tree protection and establishment system from Morse Nursery, as well as some of the challenges that come with managing competing volunteer trees.
