Four years of history. Countless trail camera photos. One unforgettable Illinois whitetail hunt.
Michael has followed this buck for years, documenting his growth through trail camera pictures, shed antlers, and changing seasons. Known as “Short Four,” this buck became one of the most memorable deer on the farm. After watching him develop over the years, the opportunity finally came on opening day of Illinois firearms season in the fall of 2025.
In this episode, we take you along as Michael prepares a four-acre soybean food plot for bowhunting, creates shooting lanes through the beans, and explains how food plots, trail cameras, and careful access help him manage the property and pursue mature whitetails.
With the right wind, a little patience, and a buck that had become part of the farm’s history, everything came together for an unforgettable hunt.
